As we continue during this uncertain season, we are reminded of the one certainty that we can count on and that is our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He is a God who never leaves us or forsakes us, and is with us to the end of the age.

As the COVID cases begin to slow in the developed countries, the virus continues to escalate in the developing countries. We are experiencing this in India as the cases will cross 1 million this week. The hospital beds are full in most of the large cities. BBC reported that in some hospitals in Mumbai, there are two patients to a bed with many patients sleeping on the floor. Finding work is a challenge and food is a constant worry for the poor. As I mentioned in my last update, this crisis is impacting the poor in a disproportionate way. Most organizations have said that poverty will increase and become more severe.

One of the amazing scenarios we have seen is how our local team and our house churches have stepped up, and have been empowered and activated to be the hands and feet of Jesus. They are on the front lines every day. They are stepping out and sharing the gospel, praying for people and meeting a very real need by providing food packets and sharing out of their very own limited resources. I heard this testimony at our Easter service where one of the gals shared she was so excited by how Christ had transformed her life and what the resurrection means to her, that she was going to cook a meal even though she was running out of food herself; and she was going to invite her neighbors and share about how Christ had transformed her life. A good reminder that regardless of what we face or what circumstances we face, because of Christ we are people of hope knowing that we have everything we need in Him.

At Hands of Freedom, we want to do everything we can to help during this time of extreme need and vulnerability that the poor are facing to help them weather this challenge. Our teams are ministering on the front lines ensuring that none of these vulnerable families fall prey to the evils of poverty such as bonded labor and trafficking.

As we go into this reopening phase, we are seeing our preschool children excited and eagerly awaiting to return to school; our entrepreneurial women are eagerly awaiting to get back to restarting their small vegetable stalls and tailoring businesses ; and children in our communities are eagerly awaiting their opportunity to reengage in the hope centers  where they learn more about Jesus as they continue their education.

At Hands of Freedom, we want to bless you all for being a blessing to thousands of families on their way out of poverty. We cannot do this without your prayers and support

Please be reminded that we are praying for you all as you face these uncertain times.
